MONROVIA, CA (November 17, 2025) – The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants in the U.S., is pleased to announce the appointment of four new Board members. The Foundation welcomes Karen Macarah, actor and writer; Gene McGuire, Managing Partner of Ramp Health; Eric Schwebach, Senior Managing Director of Aon Reinsurance Solutions; and Tom Serratore, Associate Head Coach for Texas Christian University (TCU) Women’s Soccer, to its Board of Directors

Each brings unique expertise spanning creative arts, executive leadership, health innovation, financial risk strategy, and collegiate athletics, united by a shared belief that every child deserves a future beyond cancer.

Macarah is a Los Angeles–based writer and performer whose work spans theater and film, including the one-woman show Wine Time with Roni and the musical Five. Before turning to the creative arts full time, she practiced law at Gibson Dunn and later served more than a decade as general counsel for her family’s real estate company. Her connection to St. Baldrick’s became personal when her son Sam, a 2024 Ambassador, was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia as a teenager. He benefited from a treatment protocol funded in part by St. Baldrick’s, fueling her commitment to advancing bold research.

McGuire is a business leader with more than 30 years of experience across healthcare, pharma, and consumer goods, and has been raising funds for St. Baldrick’s for 17 years. As Managing Partner at Ramp Health, he has led strong organizational growth and built strategic partnerships that opened new market opportunities. With a reputation for clear communication, creative thinking, and leading teams through change, he brings both deep industry insight and a steadfast belief that no child should face cancer.

Schwebach is a Senior Managing Director on Aon’s U.S. Property and Casualty Treaty Team with nearly two decades of experience advising insurance companies on capital objectives, operational priorities, and risk strategy. His career spans leadership roles at both Aon and Guy Carpenter, supported by a BSBA from Ohio State and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Schwebach, a multi-time St. Baldrick’s shavee and Squire of Hope, has supported the Foundation since 2004, including helping the Aon Minneapolis office raise more than $1.6 million. Schwebach brings a longstanding passion for championing lifesaving research.

Serratore is the Associate Head Coach for TCU Women’s Soccer, where he has helped lead the team to multiple Big 12 championships, several NCAA tournament appearances, and serves as the director of TCU Youth Soccer camps. With experience across the NIL landscape, collegiate program development, and prior roles at the University of Oregon, he brings deep knowledge of building teams, elevating student-athletes, and mobilizing new communities. Over the past 18 years, he’s shaved his head 20 times for St. Baldrick’s and served as a volunteer event organizer, launching St. Baldrick’s events in multiple cities and mentoring others to expand their impact.

“It is an honor to welcome Karen Macarah, Gene McGuire, Eric Schwebach, and Tom Serratore to our Board,” says Kathleen Ruddy, CEO of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. “Each of them brings unique expertise and a personal connection to our mission — from advancing bold research and engaging new communities to building programs, growing partnerships, and inspiring teams. We are deeply grateful for their commitment and excited to work together toward a future where every child with cancer has the chance to live a long and healthy life.”

As these leaders step into their roles, they become part of a collective force powered by families, advocates, and experts all working toward the same goal of conquering kids’ cancer. Together, these leaders will help advance the Foundation’s mission to fuel the most promising childhood cancer research wherever it may take place.
