September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. For families like yours, this month holds deep meaning. It’s a time to honor or remember your child and help push forward progress that will lead to better, safer treatments for all kids with cancer.
Whether your child is in treatment, a survivor, or forever remembered, there are meaningful ways you can take part in September. From raising awareness to raising funds, your voice and actions can spark hope, create change, and help conquer kids’ cancer.
Here are a few ways to get involved:

1. Help Raise Awareness
Your story matters — and it can be a powerful force in spreading awareness about the urgent need for childhood cancer research. During September, consider sharing your child’s story with your community, on social media, or in a blog post. When people see the faces and families behind the statistics, they begin to understand why funding for childhood cancer research is critical.

2. Take the Backpack Challenge
This September, we’re launching a new fundraiser — Send Kids’ Cancer Packing — and we’d love for you to be part of it.
The challenge is inspired by a powerful new treatment for kids with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Many of these patients will now receive lifesaving cancer therapy through a wearable backpack — for 28 days straight — allowing them to be treated at home instead of the hospital. It’s a small step toward giving kids their childhood back.
To honor their strength and help fund the next breakthrough, supporters will take on a symbolic challenge:
- Wear a backpack for 28 days
- Or walk/run 28 miles with a backpack
- Raise $2,500 in honor of the 2,500 kids diagnosed with B-cell ALL each year
The goal? To fund research that gives more kids the chance to grow up, chase dreams, and simply be kids again.

3. Fundraise Your Way
You know your community best — and sometimes the most meaningful fundraisers come from the heart. Whether it’s a bake sale, game night, art show, or 5K, there are so many ways to turn your passions into purpose.
St. Baldrick’s is here to support you every step of the way with personalized fundraising pages, graphics, and guidance to help make your idea a success.
Every dollar you raise helps move research forward — and brings us closer to cures.

4. Advocate for Change

Together, We Are Stronger
September is a powerful reminder that childhood cancer is not rare for the families who live with it every day. But it’s also a reminder of the strength, resilience, and community that surround these kids and their families.
No matter how you take action, your love, your voice, and your story are helping build a future with more hope — and more kids surviving childhood cancer.
Let’s make this September count.
