Their Next Chapter Starts With You

June is National Cancer Survivor Month — a time to celebrate the incredible resilience of childhood cancer survivors, while recognizing that for them, the story doesn’t end when treatment does. Surviving childhood cancer is just the first chapter in a lifelong journey.

At the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, we believe every child deserves a future filled with possibilities — not limitations. That’s why our June campaign, “Their Next Chapter Starts With You,” is shining a light on the realities of childhood cancer survivorship and the power you have to help kids not only beat cancer but thrive in the years that follow.

The Reality of Childhood Cancer Survivorship

You might be surprised to learn that 1 in every 530 adults (age 20-39) in the U.S. is a childhood cancer survivor. And while they’ve overcome cancer, many continue to face serious, lifelong health challenges caused by the treatments that saved their lives.

These late effects of childhood cancer treatment can include heart and lung problems, secondary cancers, fertility issues, cognitive challenges, and more. In fact, research shows that by the time today’s childhood cancer survivors turn 50, more than 99% will have experienced a chronic health issue, and 95% will face a severe or life-threatening condition.

But with better, safer treatments — funded by people like you — we can help ensure that the next generation of survivors has a brighter, healthier future.

How You Can Support Childhood Cancer Survivors This Month

This June, we’re sharing powerful stories of cancer survivors who, thanks to research and your support, are stepping into their next chapters — starting school, chasing careers, and living out their dreams. And for kids still in treatment today, you have the chance to be part of what comes next.

Here’s how you can take action for childhood cancer survivors this month:

Become a Monthly Donor: Your ongoing support fuels lifesaving research and improves survivors’ futures long after treatment ends.

  • 📖 Start a Fundraiser: Whether it’s a head-shaving event, bake sale, or online campaign, your efforts help fund critical childhood cancer research that supports both treatment and survivorship care.
  • 📖 Set a New Goal: If you already have a fundraising page, use this month to raise your goal and show kids with cancer you’re still in their corner.
  • 📖 Spread the Word: Download and share our campaign graphics and childhood cancer survivor stories to raise awareness about survivorship and why research matters.
  • 📖 Follow Along: Join us on social media and sign up for our emails to meet survivors, hear about kids in treatment, and see how your support changes lives.

Because Their Next Chapter Deserves to Be Bright

At St. Baldrick’s, we’re funding research that not only saves lives but also improves the long-term quality of life for childhood cancer survivors. Thanks to donors like you, more than 70 institutions have received over $22 million in survivorship-focused grants. But there’s more work to do — and you’re an important part of what comes next.

Their next chapter starts with you. Let’s help them turn the page.
