Turning My Cancer Journey Into Hope for Kids With Cancer

In October 2025, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer. After surgery, I thought that chapter of my life was behind me. But in August 2026, just days before my wedding, I learned my cancer had returned.

I started chemotherapy on September 14, and three weeks into treatment, my hair began falling out. Losing my hair was difficult, especially after just getting married on August 30 with a full head of hair and my favorite haircut yet.

Three wedding scenes: a couple pose by a vintage car at sunset, celebrate beneath trees, then leave a stone venue amid cheering guests.

Instead of simply watching it happen, I decided to take control of the moment and shave my head for a cause that means so much to me: childhood cancer research.

Why I’m Supporting Childhood Cancer Research

Going through cancer myself has opened my eyes to what children and their families face. As an adult, I’ve had a lifetime to make memories and experiences. Kids should be worrying about school, sports, friends, and birthdays—not chemotherapy and cancer.

That’s why becoming a St. Baldrick’s shavee felt so meaningful. I wanted to turn my cancer journey into an opportunity to raise awareness and support research that can lead to better treatments and more chances for children with cancer to grow up and live the lives they deserve.

How Fundraising and Awareness Make a Difference

The support from my community has been incredible. In just two weeks, our fundraiser raised more than $10,000! Seeing my fundraising goal grow and feeling the love from my community has helped transform a difficult experience into something positive.

One of my most memorable moments was receiving personal support from the St. Baldrick’s team. It confirmed that I had chosen an organization that truly cares about its mission and the people behind it.

I also want people to know that donating isn’t the only way to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. Sharing a fundraiser, talking about childhood cancer, and raising awareness can make a real difference. You never know who might see your post and be inspired to get involved.

Turning My Cancer Experience Into Hope

I can’t control having cancer or what chemotherapy takes from me. But I can choose what I do with this moment.

My goal is to continue growing this fundraiser, reaching more people, and raising money for childhood cancer research. As I work toward $14,000, I’m reminded that every donation, share, and conversation brings us closer to better treatments and a brighter future for kids with cancer.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me, and I hope to continue helping St. Baldrick’s in any way I can.

Because kids deserve to be kids. They deserve to grow up, make memories, chase their dreams, and experience all that childhood should hold.

Together, we can Conquer Kids’ Cancer.
